The Gristle

Punk mixed with blues having a secret, dirty love affair with the grooves of James Brown toped off with a generous tablespoon of heavy riffing that makes you wanna put on a Black Sabbath vinyl on the turntable. In other words, maxed out rock n roll coming from a double barreled rifle. Muddy Waters on a Triumph Chopper from 1969 Straight pipes - helmet without a visor!

The Gristle is a chewy, inedible part of meat. If there's too much gristle in your steak, you might send it back — or think seriously about becoming a vegetarian. The Gristle is an unpleasant surprise in a bite of meat, a fibrous bit you may end up spitting in your napkin. The Gristle is also a garage rock duo from Sweden consisting of Max Malmquist - Guitar + Vocal, and Andreas Angel - Drums + Vocal. The Gristle have played Fuzz Fest in Stockholm and Malmö as well as a support tour for Dregen (Hellacopters), and supported both Spiders and Truckfighters. In the summer of 2024, The Gristle played a magical gig at Christiania in Copenhagen, where Christiania Bladet wrote that it was the best gig since Bruce Springsteen. Newly signed with Icons Creating Evil Art their debut EP Barf! is released October 9 on all major streaming services.

Here's what the band have to say about the songs:

Heavy Cream  - "This one is about riding a chopper and freedom. In the chopper world, when you build your own chopper, you put your own name on your bike, just because all builds are so unique. Heavy Cream is Göran's, that is, my father-in-law's panhead from 1948, which he named Heavy Cream."

Trigger - "It's about two people fighting in a basement, think Fight Club. But the basic thought and ulterior motive of the song is that one fighter symbolizes money and the other fighter symbolizes man. We fight every day against money."

Death City - "We are also working on a comic book called Machine Gun Max. Not about me, but a character with a mullet who lives in Death City. The series is in three colors. Black, white and yellow. We call it, black white and piss. The song builds up a feeling of what it's like to live in Death City."
