Swedish rock outfit Åskväder enter a new era with anthemic new single Farewell Released May 29th via Icons Creating Evil Art

Swedish rock outfit Åskväder return with their new single Farewell, the first glimpse of the band’s upcoming third full-length album and their first release in collaboration with Icons Creating Evil Art. The track also marks the beginning of a bold new chapter with Saga Flygare Täll joining the band as lead vocalist and guitarist.

Driven by razor-sharp riffs, blues-soaked melodies and raw Scandinavian energy, Farewell captures everything that has made Åskväder one of Sweden’s most electrifying modern rock acts — while simultaneously pushing their sound into something heavier, sharper and more emotionally charged.

“A strong song that we all really enjoyed recording,” the band explains. “It was one of the very first tracks we worked on for the album.”

Built around themes of disillusionment, survival and moving forward through collapse, Farewell balances swaggering rock’n’roll attitude with a darker emotional undercurrent. Gritty guitars collide with massive hooks, thunderous drums and soaring vocal harmonies, creating a track that feels equally rooted in classic Scandinavian rock tradition and modern melodic hard rock.

Since forming on Sweden’s west coast, Åskväder have steadily built a reputation through explosive live performances and a sound that channels the spirit of the ’90s Scandinavian rock explosion. Drawing inspiration from bands like The Hellacopters, Turbonegro and Thundermother while maintaining a distinct identity of their own, the band blends blues-infused riff rock, punk urgency and anthemic songwriting into a high-voltage, no-frills experience.

Following the release of their debut EP Quick Fixes in 2018, the band released their self-titled debut album in 2020 and followed it with Fenix in 2022 and the Electric Tide EP in 2023. Extensive touring across Scandinavia, Germany and Spain further established Åskväder as a powerful live act with a rapidly growing audience.

With Saga Flygare Täll joining the band in 2025, Åskväder now enter their next phase with renewed intensity and ambition. Their upcoming album Wax — set for release in 2026 via Icons Creating Evil Art — is described by the band as their strongest and most explosive work to date: refined, relentless and built for the stage.

Today, Åskväder consists of Lucas Monryd (bass), Tim Ferm (drums), Saga Flygare Täll (lead vocals/guitar) and Martin Gut (lead guitar).

The storm continues in 2026.
