Swedish rock duo The Gristle release their long-awaited debut album Urban Myth, and go on a Nordic Tour with Philip Shouse. Album released March 6th on Icons Creating Evil Art.
Blending blues grit, punk urgency and garage rock swagger, Urban Myth captures the raw immediacy that has defined the band since their formation in 2020. Built around thick, fuzz-laden riffs, pounding drums and a relentless groove, the album sounds bigger than its two-person lineup suggests — and that’s entirely the point.
At its core, The Gristle is a stripped-down rock engine: guitar, drums and instinct. Across the album, the band channels the desert weight of Queens of the Stone Age, the sharp-edged riff attack of Jack White and the driving pulse of The Black Keys — but with a darker, grittier identity rooted in Scandinavian rock tradition.
Throughout Urban Myth, stories of myth, resilience and obsession unfold over hypnotic grooves and high-octane performances. Recorded with a live-first mentality, the album avoids overproduction in favor of feel. The result is a record that breathes — immediate, physical and unapologetically raw.
The Gristle have built their reputation on stage. They have toured with acts such as Truckfighters, Dregen (The Hellacopters), Spiders and Handsome Dick Manitoba (The Dictators). In 2026, they join Philip Shouse (Accept) on his Nordic Shouse It Out Loud tour alongside Nicke Andersson (The Hellacopters), Jesper Lindgren (Velvet Insane) and Mats Rydström (Abramis Brama).
The band consists of Max Bob Malmquist (guitar & vocals) and Peter “Pete” Jansson (drums). Together they write, produce and perform everything themselves — a two-man unit driven by groove rather than gloss. Urban Myth is not a nostalgic revival. It is a statement: rock music built on sweat, tension and movement still matters.
