Sweden's electro queen EMMON is back with new music from her first album since 2014

Sweden's electro queen EMMON, aka Emma Nylén, returned to the Electronic Body Music Scene after a 5 year long break in 2019. After releasing 4 stand alone singles under the working name "Under construction", Emmon is now back to reclaim her throne with brand new single "Purebloods", featuring post punk icon Emanuel Åström from Agent Side Grinder. She tells us; “The song is about trying to take responsibility for feelings and actions in our time of incels, disinformation and conspiracy theories. To take another perspective and dare to challenge oneself on a personal level in order to do something about one's own little bubble."

"Purebloods" is an unyielding EBM-track, with sleek refined soundscapes and thundering basslines that vibrates right through your bones. Sitting down to write the new song, Emmon quickly realized is was to become a duet. "When I wrote the song, I immediately felt that it had two different inner voices that spoke to each other", she tells us. "The first thought that struck me was that I wanted to do it together with Emanuel Åström, singer of the Swedish electronic post punk band Agent Side Grinder. I really like his voice and way of singing. In addition to that, we sound so different in voices that it matches the whole concept with the song. If he had said no, I don't think I would not have asked anyone else, just put it on ice for a while. That's why I'm so happy he wanted to be a part of it.”

The new track is accompanied by a stunning Music video made by Niklas Kärreskog, who also plays synth with Emmon live. Emma goes on to explains; “We work as a small creative collective where we collaborate on several creative levels, both visually and musically. The video contains graphic elements that are the same type of pattern used in so-called Rorschach tests. A psychological personality test that consists of a series of images with non-figurative and symmetrical ink pumps, where the test person is given the task of telling what the images represent. This symbolizes the whole content of the song. A kind of psychoanalysis and personality test of your own behaviour."

New single "Purebloods" by EMMON feat. Emanuel Åström is to be released on all major platforms via Icons Creating Evil Art at June 10th 2022.

More about EMMON:

The esteemed electro/dance project Emmon saw the light of day in 2001, originally created as an art project during Emma's studies at art school while experimenting in the sound lab. With her explosive one-woman shows and engaging DJ-gigs, she quickly took her place front and centre of the electroclash genre at alternative stages in Sweden, and entered the music industry by producing highly coveted remixes of famous Swedish acts such as The Knife, Melody Club & BWO. After several years of touring as part of the popular synthband Paris, her long-awaited and intensely hyped up solo album "The Art and The Evil" was released in 2007 on Wonderland Records. Since then, Emmon has been crowned Sweden's electro queen, released 4 full-leangth albums and completed numerous tours, club and festival performances.

Emma and her partner Jimmy Monell (The April Tears, producer of The Sounds debut album, Rein etc) paired up in 2010, producing Emmons latest albums together. Between 2014-2019, Emmon took a well-needed break to regain the drive and find the pleasure in creating music again. Her grand comeback, a gig with Nitzer Ebb at Slaktkyrkan in 2019, was received with great enthusiasm. Zero Magazine exclaimed; ”After 5 years of silence, Sweden's electroclash queen Emmon is back with new music”.

When the Covid pandemic suddenly struck EMMON had a tour all planned out and was one of the last to perform live in Stockholm in March 2020 just before the world closed down. However, the pandemic gave room to continue creating and recording new songs that have now taken the form of an 10-track-album named RECON, which will be released this autumn via Swedish boutique label Icons Creating Evil Art. Emmon tells us; ”The new songs have become harder and got a darker costume. Musically, I went back to my creative roots and to the sound of  the 00's electroclash scene that Emmon was created and descends from. Mixed with progressive old school synth in a postmodern production that is primarily produced to be performed live.”
