Swedish production duo PAPA Sound continue their journey through bass, rhythm and international collaboration with Work Out, a new single created together with Jamaican dancehall artist Kim Wierdo and Panamanian urbano artist RD Maravilla. Released now via Icons Creating Evil Art, the track arrives accompanied by an official music video.

Built around a heavy, infectious groove, Work Out brings together modern dancehall and Urbano Latino, connecting three different musical worlds without sanding away the edges that make each one distinct. PAPA Sound provide the bass-driven foundation, Kim Wierdo brings the unmistakable energy and attitude of contemporary Jamaican dancehall, while RD Maravilla adds a Panamanian Latin urban flavour. The result is immediate, physical and deliberately uncomplicated: music designed to make bodies move. As Kim Wierdo explains:

That cross-cultural exchange has increasingly become the driving force behind PAPA Sound. Formed in 2020 by Paolo Albo and Patrik Arve, the Swedish duo have built their identity around bass-heavy productions rooted in dancehall, reggae and afrobeat, while constantly searching for what happens when those foundations collide with other genres and cultures. Their philosophy has remained refreshingly simple: attitude beats perfection.

For Patrik Arve, that approach stretches back considerably further. As a founding member of Teddybears, he has spent decades exploring the space between punk, electronic music, hip-hop and Jamaican sounds. Teddybears’ international breakthrough included Cobrastyle featuring Mad Cobra, and Arve has also collaborated with artists including Beenie Man, Ninjaman, Elephant Man, Busy Signal, Wiley, Kano, Robyn, Eve and Iggy Pop.
