Norwegian/Scottish duo amilost release Afterthought (Acoustic Version) — A stripped-back, heartfelt reimagining of their 2025 single Released January 23rd via Icons Creating Evil Art

Originally released in March 2025 with a featured vocal, Afterthought now appears in its most intimate and personal form: re-recorded as a duo performance that places the song’s emotional core fully in the foreground. Written during a snowy December evening in London, Afterthought explores the universal experience of pretending not to think about someone while being completely consumed by their memory. It captures the quiet obsession of replaying conversations, imagining alternate outcomes, and wondering whether those feelings are shared — the ache of a love filled with unfulfilled potential.

“Afterthought is a song about that person you pretend to not be thinking about,” the duo explain.
“It’s about the thoughts and scenarios you play out in your head, wondering if they feel the same, and hoping they do. It’s about that love with unfulfilled potential — the one that got away, the one who you used to know so well but became a stranger.”

Recorded live at Fish Factory Studios, Afterthought (Acoustic Version) is the latest release from Amilost’s forthcoming project Live from Fish Factory Studios — an acoustic reimagining of their catalogue that follows Tiny War (Acoustic Version) and Bloom (Acoustic Version). Together, the series traces the emotional landscape of Chapters of a Heartbreak back to its most honest beginnings.

While the original version of Afterthought marked an evolution in Amilost’s sound — weaving indie folk elements into their signature alt-pop palette — the acoustic version pares everything back to voice, guitar, and space. Without layered production or featured vocals, the song becomes more internal and exposed, allowing its emotional tension to unfold slowly and naturally.

Sigrid Zeiner’s ethereal, crystalline vocal sits at the center of the arrangement, supported by Ross Craib’s restrained, cinematic instrumentation. Every breath and pause is left intact, emphasizing the song’s quiet vulnerability and unresolved longing.

Afterthought (Acoustic Version) embodies the guiding philosophy of Live from Fish Factory Studios: returning songs to the moment they were written, before polish and production — when feeling alone was enough.

Blending Nordic melancholy with cinematic British pop, Amilost continue to establish themselves as one of alternative pop’s most emotionally resonant voices. With a growing international audience and a reputation for deeply human songwriting, the duo transform heartbreak into something intimate, universal, and quietly powerful.

Afterthought (Acoustic Version) is out January 23rd, 2026 via Icons Creating Evil Art, as part of the ongoing Live from Fish Factory Studios acoustic series.
