Murdo Mitchell teams up with platinum-certified artists 'flora cash' to remix ‘Your Skin’, out 3rd March via Icons Creating Evil Art
After a prolific 2022, which saw him release a flurry of exciting efforts including ‘Lies’, ‘Jaded’ and ‘Ghosts’, which garnered support from the likes of Earmilk, Wonderland and Ones To Watch, singer-songwriter Murdo Mitchell returns once again to unveil the flora cash remix of his iconic single ‘Your Skin’.
Following on from the release of the WNDR remix of ‘Ghosts’ last month, flora cash’s rework of ‘Your Skin’ is also the debut remix release from the platinum-certified Swedish duo. Reflecting Mitchell’s own passionate voice with a raw and driven electro-rock production heightens the intensity behind the original release, and makes for a brilliantly riveting listening experience throughout. It is the first remix the Swedish duo have officially made and chose specifically for label comrade Murdo.
Flora Cash originally met on SoundCloud and struck up a musical connection, leading Shpresa Lleshaj to travel from Stockholm to Minneapolis to meet Cole Randall in person. They returned to Sweden together and immediately began work as Flora Cash. They were married the next year.
After signing with Swedish indie label Icons Creating Evil Art in 2015, as one of the two first signings on the then newly started label, flora cash debuted with a series of independent releases, followed in March 2016 by an acclaimed seven-song mini-LP, Can Summer Love Last Forever? The band’s full-length debut album, Nothing Lasts Forever (And It’s Fine), arrived the following year, highlighted by the global smash single, “You’re Somebody Else.” First released in 2017, the RIAA platinum certified single has proven a true viral phenomenon, currently boasting over 500M worldwide streams while ranking as one of Shazam’s Most Shazamed Alternative Songs in both 2019 and 2020. Hailed by Forbes as “arguably the most intriguing song on radio this past year,” “You’re Somebody Else” was equally popular at multi-format outlets nationwide, reaching #1 at Alternative and Triple A while also ascending to the top 5 on Billboard’s “Hot Rock Songs” chart. The track – which has also inspired countless TikTok videos in recent months – is joined by an official lyric video, now with over 175M views via YouTube alone.
The duo performed several times on American television after making their debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden and toured with SYML, Sir Sly, Joywave, lovelytheband, Judah & the Lion and AJR throughout 2018 and 2019.
In early 2020, Flora Cash released their second full length album ‘Baby, It’s Okay’ on Sony’s RCA Records (and Icons creating Evil Art in Scandinavia), and followed that up with their thrid album 'our generation' in 2021 which was self released together with Secretly (and Icons creating Evil Art in Scandinavia).
Murdo Mitchell signed to ICEA in 2022 and with this label family collaboration remix he is about to be introduced to the world. Murdo Mitchell will also embark on a headline UK tour in April this year, with support from Luke La Volpe*. See below for the full list of tour dates.
