Following the acclaimed first remix from Swiss-German duo SIIE, Swedish darkwave artist EMMON continues the journey towards the upcoming remix album ICONMIXED with a striking new reinterpretation of Speak to Me. This time, the song is handed over to Copenhagen-based trio The Foreign Resort, who replace pulsating electronics with shimmering guitars, cavernous reverb and a surprising dose of thrash metal attitude.

Rather than approaching the track as a traditional electronic remix, The Foreign Resort chose to completely reimagine it.

"What do you do when the song you're remixing already sounds amazing? You change it from electronic to analogue and add layers of reverb and distortion! And of course a Slayer-inspired guitar solo. Because it fits the song—and because we love metal!"

The result is one of the most unexpected moments on ICONMIXED. While EMMON's original version pulses with cold electronic precision, The Foreign Resort transform it into an expansive, guitar-driven piece that draws equally from post-punk, shoegaze and alternative rock without losing the emotional intensity that made the original so compelling.

Known for their signature blend of dark new wave, explosive post-punk and atmospheric shoegaze, The Foreign Resort have spent more than a decade building an international following through relentless touring across Europe and North America. Their music has drawn comparisons to artists such as Joy Division, The Cure and The Horrors, while maintaining a sound unmistakably their own. Their latest album, Endurance, further cemented their reputation for combining melodic depth with raw intensity.

For EMMON, Speak to Me has become one of the defining tracks from her critically acclaimed album ICON, making it a natural choice for reinterpretation. Throughout the ICONMIXED project, artists from different corners of the alternative music world have been invited to reshape the album through their own musical identities, revealing entirely new dimensions of the original material.

The Foreign Resort take that idea to its furthest extreme. Their version strips away synthesizers in favour of analogue textures, saturated guitars and driving live drums, while preserving the song's emotional core. The addition of a soaring, Slayer-inspired guitar solo adds an unexpected twist that feels both bold and strangely inevitable.

The remix highlights the surprising kinship between dark electronic music and post-punk—two genres built on atmosphere, tension and emotional weight. Rather than sounding like a remix, Speak to Me (The Foreign Resort Remix) feels like an alternate reality where the song was written for a loud stage instead of a dark club.
